Dr. Charles Duke, MD PhD, FAWM
Board certified Emergency Medicine Physician, Emergency Medicine Residency and Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at Yale, Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM), Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM), Diploma in Diving and Marine Medicine (DiDMM) with the Wilderness Medical Society. PADI Master Diver, High Angle Rope Rescue trained. Clinical Faculty at John A Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). Worked on Mt Denali with the National Park Service, Participated in high altitude physiology research in Nepal, Instructor and co-author of WLS:MP and WFR and has authored over 25 publications and several patents. Now on the Big Island of Hawai'i, practice includes wilderness and tropical medicine.

Dr. Jessica Duke, MD FAWM
Emergency Medicine physician, completing her wilderness medicine fellowshi[p at Yale. FAWM and DiDMM from the WMS and also holds a military DiMM. Clinical faculty at JABSOM, practicing on the island of Hawai'i. Master diver, swift water rescuer. Worked with organizations such as National Geographic, AdventureMed, and the 4 Deserts ultramarathon series. Practices on the island of Hawai’i.

Dr. James Ham, MD FAWM
Emergency Medicine physician, FAWM with the WMS. Assistant Clinical Professor at JABSOM. Division Chief of Emergency Medicine at Hawaii Pacific Health. Former Army Brigade Surgeon for 130th Engineer Brigade - led medical operations for austere humanitarian missions throughout the Pacific, most notably as Task Force Surgeon for Balikatan in the Philippines. Graduate of the Military Tropical Medicine Course, Joint Humanitarian Operations Course, and National Cave Rescue Commission. American College of Surgeons' Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and the STOP THE BLEED instructor. Created a Rotary-sponsored Wilderness Medicine train-the-trainer program for trekking guides in Bhutan. Executive Director and Co-Founder of Water Hands Hope - leading medical and community health projects in Papua New Guinea for the past ten years. Board member of Hawaii HOME Project - working with the houseless populations of Oahu. Practices Honolulu.

Dr. Lorenzo Albala
Dr. Lorenzo Albala is an emergency medicine physician with Hawaii Pacific Health and Clinical Assistant Professor at John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu. He is affiliated Wilderness Medicine faculty, Massachusetts General Hospital SPEAR Division. Dr. Albala completed his residency training at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency and his Wilderness Medicine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is the founder of ROSE Initiatives, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, through which he leverages wilderness and emergency medicine training to build capacity and strengthen systems and infrastructure in remote and under-resourced places. Dr. Albala loves to explore the world through food and spends most of his free time surfing with his wife.

Dr. Gregory Suares, MD FAWM
Emergency Medcine physician, FAWM with the WMS. Advanced Trauma Life Support and the STOP THE BLEED instructor. Assistant professor and division chief of emergency medicine at JABSOM, practicing in Honolulu. Experience as an American Red Cross Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. Has worked as an emergency medicine technician and former volunteer with the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad. Recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for work performed with the AmeriCorps – National Preparedness and Response Corps (NPRC) and the American Red Cross, providing disaster education and relief.

Heather Madsen
Heather Madsen is a wilderness emergency medical technician. On Oahu, she works as a lifeguard and EMT for Honolulu Ocean Safety and volunteers for Oahu Search and Rescue. She earned her bachelor's degree in Geochemistry at Princeton University and is currently completing her Masters in Environmental Engineering at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Presently applying to medical school, she aspires to become a doctor of emergency medicine working in rural, remote, and underserved environments.
